Purple Gecko is a company who provides Dance, Martial Arts, Fitness, Health and Wellbeing to many communities across the North West. We cover a range of ages and milestones within life.

Purple Gecko is split in to 2 main areas, Youth and Health

Our Youth academy provides a range of dance and karate classes for ages 2-18. We are very passionate about what we do and we pride ourselves on offering first class tuition at affordable prices.

We give the very best opportunities to our students and hold many events such as shows, exams and gradings throughout the year.

Our Health academy provides, health, wellbeing, fitness and support to women at every stage of their life including pregnancy, post natal and mature women. Workouts for women by women!

All of our classes are delivered by highly experienced and trained professionals in their relevant fields. All of our instructors are DBS cleared, First aid trained and all have public liability.

SAMANTHA HICKEY

The Boss

Trained by the former Shukokai Shitaryu UK team coach, Paul Graham, from age 9, Sam is a 4th Dan Black Belt Grading Officer. Sam is also a professional dancer qualified to degree level, with certifications in dance and movement grading.

Sam is a formidable force, filled with passion and drive to deliver the best classes and services in the North West. Sam extended her education with dreams of expanding her business in the areas of health and fitness which has now become a reality! (Well done Sam!)

Sam's is currently working hard to build more Purple Gecko programmes that will be rolled out through local councils and education establishments, helping to make the process of getting fit, very fun!

Fun fact: Sam has helped choreograph huge shows & helps to bring them to life in Alder Hey Hospital Children's Ward.

PENNY MURPHY

Dance Instructor

Penny trained at Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre where she gained qualifications in Musical Theatre and Dance teacher qualifications in ISTD. She graduated in 2017, after that she went and gained experience dancing in hotels, holiday parks around the United Kingdom and Worldwide!

Penny is an all-round dancer and has a real passion for dance with this hopes to have a successful teaching career just like her performing days!

BETH CALLENDER

Dance Instructor

Beth has a BA Hons Dance Degree from Edge Hill University (2:1) and Several ADA grade dance exam certificates in Tap and Modern. Beth has devised and led many popular workshops based on national curriculum at primary schools.
She has also:
Carried out CPD training for staff
Choreographed school assemblies and productions throughout the academic year
Performed and facilitated on large scale projects such as ‘Window on Warrington’ and ‘The Moment When’
Performed at many local events as part of Fusion Elite, including VPX, Warrington Education and Community Platform and Warrington Wolves arts festivals, Warrington Collegiate Competition showcase, Thelwall Rose Festival, opened the Street Games event in Manchester, England vs Exhile Game, Warrington Wolves home games, Liverpool Cathedral and at Wembley

AMY

Dance Instructor

Amy has had a love of dancing since the day she could walk, she started her dance career at age 10 with Leigh School of Dancing and worked her way through exam grades in Ballet, Tap and Jazz up to her teacher exam. With only 3 exams left to take and Amy will be qualified in all 3 disciplines up to Advanced. Through taking the exams Amy grew the condidence to progress up to vice principal of the school and have a strong influence for the competition team. Amy also helped with the change of hands from Leigh School of Dancing to Purple Gecko supporting children and parents through the transition.

Amy has a degree in Dance and Education from Liverpool Hope University and has just completed her PGCE School Direct through Ignite ITE and the University of Chester. This year Amy hopes to take her love of dance back in to schools and incoporate this as much as possible in the National Curriculum.

Amy has a strong passion for community and loves opportunities to work with children and young adults with disability, proving anyone can dance.
